What is a self-service auto repair shop?
It is a professional auto repair shop where people can rent out individual bays by the hour and work on their own vehicle.
What kind of vehicles can I bring in and do work on?
You can bring your car, truck, SUV, motorcycle, ATV, and anything else that fits in that size category. We currently can’t accommodate large vehicles such as full size RVS, large boats, commercial trucks, and full size busses. We will have a dedicated section available for this kind of vehicles in the near future.
What are the hours of operation?
The normal hours of operation are 9:00am to 7:00pm Monday to Friday but the shop is available 24/7. That means you can schedule to come and use the facility any time any day of the week. Call at least 24 hours in advance to set up a day and time. There is a minimum of two hours charge for after hours use.
How much does it cost?
We currently have available three kinds of bay rentals.
- Bay with no lift $10
- Bay with two post lift $15
- Bay with motorcycle lift $12.
What kind of tools are available?
The shop is equipped with just about anything you’d expect to find in a regular auto repair shop such as regular sockets, impact sockets, wrenches, screwdrivers, pliers, pry bars, ratchets, air ratchets, impact guns, die grinders, breaker bars, torque wrenches, ball joint puller, harmonic balancer puller, valve spring compressor, piston ring compressor, cylinder honing tool, grease gun, and many many more! We can’t promise that we will have each and every tool existing for an automotive use especially when it comes to specialty tools, but we are constantly enhancing our tool collection to be able to offer any tool needed.
What is the cost to rent tools?
Tools are included with every bay rental for free with the exception of some special tools witch are available for an extra charge.
- Mig welder $20/hr
- Oxy acetylene torch $20/hr
- A/C service tools $20/hr
Will I have to pay extra for shop equipment like an engine hoist or a transmission jack?
All the shop equipment is available to use any time with any bay rental at no extra charge.
Do you have service manuals at the shop?
We have a computer where customers can access an automotive repair software and find specific information about their car like torque specs, wiring diagrams, repair procedures. Customers can also go online and look for parts or any other information they might need.
I have some knowledge on how to perform some basic repairs on my vehicle and I think I can do it my self but what if need some advice along the way?
We offer free on-site assistance to our customers. We will help you and advice you so you will get the job done and get it right.
I love the idea of working on my own car and saving money or just doing it for fun! I have never done anything like this before and I know nothing about it but I would love to learn! Can you help?
Absolutely! U-Fix-It Center is dedicated into helping people get more involved in their car maintenance. We can teach you anything you need to know that has to do with car maintenance /repair whether that is how to change your oil or rebuilding your engine. Just call and make an appointment!
What if after I started a repair job I realize that I will not be able to finish it or I don’t want to deal with it any more?
U-Fix-It Center is strictly a self service auto repair shop. We don’t have a technician onsite to complete the job for you but we can arrange for one to come in and finish the job for you at an additional cost. Just give us a call.
Can I leave my vehicle overnight in the shop if I need more time to finish the job?
Yes you can! We have a small overnight storage fee in the event that you can’t complete the job the same day and you have to leave your vehicle in the shop overnight. Check our rates for the applicable fee.
Well I be able to buy parts from you for my vehicle?
At this time U-Fix-It Center does not have any parts in stock other than basic fluids but we can call and order anything through our vendors and have them deliver to the shop for you at a discounted price. We also have access to quality used engines and transmissions. Just give us a call!
I want to start a project that will take some time to complete. I will only work on it nights and weekend. Is that something I can do at your shop?
Yes, we will accommodate people that are interested in a long term rental in any way we can. Special long term deals will be available soon!
I have a vehicle that needs some body work and paint. Is that some think I can do in the shop?
You could do some light body work like changing body panels or straitening the body of your car but we can’t have any major sanding or spray painting. We will soon have a dedicated area for body work only with paint booth and frame machine.
